New Stuff

I have never ever been into gambling. Okay maybe just a little but I feel better if I claim that I have never ever been into gambling, so we will stick with that. Point is that if you are into gambling than there are a lot of places out there online where you can get some practice in before you go to Las Vegas to try and hit it big. I am so happy and a little sad at the same time. I mean don't get me wrong I love all the time with the kids but at the same time, the summers can be very rough. Especially when you got two kids that are very close in age that can not seem to agree on anything at all. So a summer of arguing and boredom and it is back to school. Thank God for the education system.

It is official, back to school season is upon us. No, school is not exactly starting yet, but the season is here. The time to go out and get busy shopping and buying all sorts of things for the kids to get back in class again. The teacher lists of all the supplies needed and all the book, paper, pens, pencils, glue sticks,etc. I actually dread back to school shopping every year, the lines, the crowds, just way too much to deal with for any parent.

The good thing though is that kids now are much more organized than I was in my day. I remember going back to school with all my crap thrown in a bag with no care at all. My daughter however is far more detailed than I am. She actually has already taken my Dymo label maker and put all these bright Color labels on like everything she has in her bag. She is definitely not going to have a problem finding her stuff all sorted and neat. If you haven't seen these things already you have to check them out, they are great for kids to get their things organized. I love mine and apparently my daughter does too.

I just don't understand it, why does college have to be so darn expensive? I understand that it is an investment into your future and all but at the same time your education shouldn't take you twenty years to pay off. The costs are so high most students end up carrying student loans for half of their lives. Living in debt is tough and it is not like finding good school loan consolidation companies is that easy either. I just think the whole thing should be a little less expensive, maybe then more people would go to college.

Okay, let's talk education for a moment. If you have good grades and and have plenty of money for college tuition then your choices on which college to attend are almost endless. If you don't get good grades though it doesn't matter how much money you have because as competitive as the world is now you are going to have a hard time finding a good college that will accept you. The point is however that if you have limitless choices in which college to attend, how do you make that choice.

That is why a lot of people rely on things like the US News Best Colleges report to help them decide. According to the most recent report US News and World Report has ranked Kettering University as "the #1 University in the nation for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering" in its annual "America's Best Colleges Guide for 2008". I have never heard of them before this list so i started looking into them and I found out that they have an incredible mechanical engineering programs.
